This Grant Writing Review class is designed for participants who already have prior experience with grant writing and would like a focused refresher on the full grant lifecycle.

Rather than covering grant writing from the beginning, this session reviews the three core stages of successful grant workprospecting, proposal writing, and post-award reporting for renewal—with an emphasis on practical strategy, efficiency, and common pitfalls. It is especially well suited for returning students and busy nonprofit staff who want to strengthen their grant work without retaking a full introductory course. Participants will also have time for live questions and real-world examples.

This class is a good fit if you:

  • Have written or contributed to grant proposals in the past

  • Want to improve your ability to identify appropriate funders

  • Are looking to strengthen proposals and align them more clearly with funder priorities

  • Want to understand how reporting affects future funding and renewals

Topics typically reviewed include:

  • Grant prospecting: identifying and prioritizing funders that are a strong fit

  • Proposal development: refining need statements, program descriptions, budgets, and outcomes

  • Reporting and renewal: meeting funder requirements, demonstrating impact, and positioning your organization for continued support

  • Common mistakes across all stages and how to avoid them

  • Practical tips for managing multiple grants efficiently

This session is live and instructor-led, and questions are always welcome. Content may be adjusted slightly based on participant needs.

Participants will receive a certificate of completion.  Course materials include a list of all the major grant databases, a preparation checklist, a glossary of terms, and samples of applications, proposals, query letters, timelines and budgets.

All sessions of this class are currently virtual.  Participation is easy.  All you need is a phone and an internet connection; we will do the rest.

We have morning, afternoon and evening classes available. Please see the drop-down menu in the section below to find available classes.
