Description
AI is already showing up in nonprofit work, but staff and board members often respond to it very differently. Some are excited by the possibilities. Some want to avoid it. Others are unsettled because they feel behind, unsure what AI can do, or unsure what questions they should be asking.
This practical, non-technical class will help nonprofit leaders guide productive AI conversations with staff and board members, especially when people disagree or feel uncertain.
Participants will learn how to:
- Create a safe and constructive conversation about AI
- Discuss ethical concerns such as environmental impact, privacy, accuracy, bias, transparency, copyright, donor trust, client dignity and job anxiety
- Address enthusiasm, resistance, fear, and confusion
- Help staff and board members ask better questions
- Identify where AI may be helpful, risky, or inappropriate
- Separate realistic concerns from exaggerated fears
- Build shared understanding before writing policies or launching new tools
- Move from disagreement toward responsible next steps
The goal is to help nonprofits talk honestly, think clearly, protect their mission, and make wise decisions about when and how AI should be used.
Participants will leave with sample discussion questions, facilitation strategies, and a simple framework for guiding staff and board conversations about responsible AI use.
